Alliance policies: Aftercare

We support the decision by the Government to abandon their proposals to end the current entitlement to free aftercare services for patients who have been detained in hospital. We believe that mental health legislation must provide free aftercare to people who have been detained in hospital - and this should not be restricted to people who have been detained under certain sections of the 1983 Act. This provision is crucial in ensuring people remain engaged with services on discharge, receive continuing support and do not relapse.
